What is the cost of living doing to you?
The national numbers, then your numbers. Put in what your household spends and see how much prices rising costs you over the next year.
The national picture
Figures are a dated snapshot. Click a card's source to see the official release. Electricity and rent changes come from Westpac's analysis of the Stats NZ release, so check Stats NZ before quoting them.

Questions people ask
Where do the national numbers come from?
Inflation, income and unemployment are from Stats NZ, and interest rates are from the Reserve Bank. Each card links to its source and shows the period it covers.
Is my data stored anywhere?
Only in your own browser, so the page remembers your numbers next time. We never receive them. Use "Copy link" to share a result.
Why is my inflation different from the official figure?
Official inflation averages a basket of what a typical household buys. If you spend a bigger share on power or petrol, your own rate can be quite different, which is why this tool uses your own numbers.
Do you give financial advice?
No. This is a calculator for planning. For advice about your own money, talk to a licensed financial adviser or free budgeting service such as MoneyTalks (0800 345 123).
