The 2026 General Election is on Saturday 7 November. Voting places are open 9am to 7pm.

2 / 10Enrol by midnight Sunday 25 October

If you are not enrolled by then, you cannot vote. There is no enrolling on election day.

3 / 10Advance voting is 26 October to 6 November

Advance voting starts on 26 October and runs until the day before election day.

4 / 10You do not need ID to vote

Bringing your EasyVote card is optional. It just makes voting faster.

One for your party and one for your electorate candidate. Tick one circle in each section.

Enrol online, email a form to [email protected] or call 0800 36 76 56.

7 / 10You must be 18 to enrol

You must be at least 18, a NZ citizen or eligible resident, and have lived here continuously for 12 months at some point.

8 / 10Not on the roll? Cast a special vote

If your name is not on the printed roll you can cast a special vote. Moved electorate? Only your party vote counts.

9 / 10Voting from overseas opens 21 October

Enrolled voters overseas can download voting papers from 21 October. Return them by 7pm on election day.
